Richard F. Hovey lost his battle with cancer on Friday, November 2, 2018.
After a private burial there will be a celebration of Rick’s life at the Geneva Country Club beginning at 11 a.m., Saturday (November 17, 2018).

Rick was born in Elmira, New York on August 15, 1966 and grew up in Geneva. He graduated from Geneva High School and went on to study at Rochester Institute of Technology. While in Rochester, Rick took a job working at the airport for United Airlines where he caught the bug and passion for flying. He was a flight attendant at United Airlines for many years and ultimately traveled around the world in the same role with Delta Airlines. Rick had friends far and wide from San Francisco to Atlanta, from Washington, DC to upstate New York. His happiest days were in San Francisco and on Cape Cod. Rick’s smile and charm lit up every room he entered and he was loved by many.
Rick is survived by his best friend, John Butsch; his parents Fritz and Ann Hovey; his sister, Liza (Marc) Laibe; his nephews Jack and Fritz Laibe; his aunts Annis Hovey and Priscilla (Stewart) Maurer; and cousins Cyndi Carter and Andy Maurer.
