Congressman John Katko and Assemblyman Gary Finch over the weekend picked up last minute endorsements.
24th District Representative John Katko received the endorsement of eight Central New York labor unions. In a joint statement, the union leaders cite Katko’s dedication to working families, as well as his support for numerous infrastructure projects. The Republican is seeking a third term in the race against Democrat Dana Balter.
126th District Assemblyman Gary Finch is in a battle against Democrat and current Cayuga County legislator Keith Batman as he tries to hold onto the seat he’s occupied since 1999.
Finch received endorsements from Cayuga County Sheriff David Gould, District Attorney Jon Budelmann, County Clerk Sue Dwyer and County Treasurer Jim Orman. Gould, Budelmann and Dwyer praised Finch for his efforts in the fight against the opioid epidemic, while Orman cited Finch for prioritizing budget issues.
