Mr. Elkin Strozier, Jr., of Newark, N.Y. passed away at his home on Tuesday (October 23, 2018).
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday (October 26) at Boeheim-Pusateri Funeral Home, 77 William St, Lyons. A service will be held immediately following at the funeral home.
Mr. Strozier, was born on the 4th of July in 1934 in Odessadale, GA. He was the son of the late Elkin Strozier Sr. and the late Ruby Strozier. His siblings are the late Joe Louis Strozier and Carrie Mae Owens of LaGrange, GA. Mr. Strozier was married to the late Anna C. Strozier and the children born unto this union are: Elkin Strozier III (Ae Cha), Mitchell Strozier (Juanita), Clyde Strozier (Sandra), Michael Strozier, Lamar Strozier (Delores) and Cynthia Strozier.
Elkin served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1958 primarily at Ft. Sill, OK and several posts in Germany. He rose to the rank of Sergeant in the Field Artillery Branch. During his tour of duty, he had the distinction of serving as an artillery crew member for the then “highly classified” M65 nuclear cannon called “Atomic Annie.” As a proud veteran, he was very involved in various Veterans’ activities in his community. Over the years, Elkin was active member in the church at Mt. Zion Baptist and the House of Praise.
Mr. Strozier leaves behind 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, family members, friends and loved ones who will love and remember him always.
He was preceded in death by two sons, the late George Strozier and the late Oliver Strozier. Elkin was also the proud father of Terrell Davis of Lyons, NY.
