The murder trial of Emerson Tohafjian will begin December 3rd.
Tohafjian was scheduled to go on trial in September for allegedly committing the murders of his ex-girlfriend, 53 year old Lori McConnell, of Waterloo, and 45 year old Charlie Andrus, of Seneca Falls, back on July 10th. The delay was the result of Tohafjian being represented by a new attorney, Frank Ciardi, of Rochester. Judge Rick Healy wanted to give Ciardi more than a month to prepare for trial.
During pre-trial motions, Ciardi requested a change of venue, claiming Tohafjian can’t get a fair trial in Seneca County because of media coverage of the case. District Attorney Barry Porsch said he would oppose that request. Ciardi has also requested a hearing to suppress evidence.
