The victims of Monday’s double homicide in Sodus have been identified. 28 year old Joshua Niles and 24 year old Amber Washburn, both of Sodus, were shot and killed by an unknown gunman around 2:30 Monday afternoon. The search for the suspect, who last seen wearing a dark-hooded sweatshirt and a green hat, continues.
Authorities are scaling back their search for the suspect, but the investigation and officer presence in the immediate vicinity of Monday’s shooting will continue for as long as necessary. Investigators do not believe this to be a random act and believe the victims were targeted. Sodus schools, which were closed Tuesday, will reopen Wednesday.
Spectrum News reports both Niles and Washburn are Newark natives and they have a young son together.

Sodus schools are closed today as the manhunt for a shooting suspect continues.
According to a neighbor, the suspect walked up to a car that was pulling out of their driveway and shot and killed the female driver. The suspect also shot and killed a man who was across the street.
Officials say the suspect was last seen wearing a dark-hooded sweatshirt and a green hat.

Wayne County authorities are continuing their search for the suspect in a double homicide that occurred Monday afternoon in the village of Sodus.
The incident occurred around 2 p.m. and a suspect was spotted running from the scene wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and a green hat. Anyone with information should contact the Sheriff’s Office at 315-946-9711.
The victims have been identified, but their names are not being released pending notifications of next of kin. Deputies remain on scene and are being assisted by the Monroe and Ontario County Sheriff’s Offices. Residents are asked to stay inside their homes if possible and to be cognizant of suspicious activity. Please call 9-1-1 if you see something suspicious.

The Wayne County Office of the Sheriff is currently at the scene of a shooting with multiple victims in the Village of Sodus. The Deputies and State Police are currently searching for an unknown perpetrator who has not been apprehended. The Sodus school is on lockdown as a precaution and residents have been advised to shelter in place until advised otherwise.
