SU football had to work overtime Saturday. In a game you heard on Finger Lakes News Radio, the Orange topped North Carolina in double OT, 40-37, to move to 5-2, 2-2 in the ACC. Also, Hobart dropped its 1st Liberty League contest, 31-24 to RPI, falling to 4-2, 2-1 in league play.
In boys’ high school soccer sectionals, Greece Odyssey knocked off Newark, 2-0; Naples clobbered Cal-Mum, 7-0; Marion edged Perry, 2-0; Sodus topped Holley, 3-0; Keshequa bashed Bloomfield, 6-0; Mynderse eked by Bishop Kearney, 2-1; Livonia nipped Geneva, 1-0; ER got by Avon, 1-0; Wayne bested HF-L, 2-1; and Williamson all over Gananda, 8-0.
On the girls’ side, Andover ransacked Romulus, 5-0; Wayne downed Greece Athena, 2-0; and Victor upended Fairport, 2-0.
In mens’ college soccer, Vassar stopped Hobart, 2-0; Wells coasted by Penn State-Berks, 4-1; and Keuka beat Penn, 2-0.
In womens’ action, William Smith dropped its first Liberty League home game in 15 years, 1-0 to Vassar; Penn State-Berks pounded Wels, 14-0; and Keuka blanked Penn, 3-0.
In college field hockey, Morrisville felled Wells, 3-0.
In the AHL, Belleville over the Amerks in OT, 5-4; while Utica clipped the Crunch, 4-3.
In the NHL, Buffalo beat LA, 5-1; and the Islanders dropped one to San Jose, 4-1.
In the NBA, Boston nidged by the Knicks, 103-101.
In the NFL, the Bills are at Indy to take on the Colts, while the Jets host Minnesota, both are 1 o’clock starts. The Giants head to Atlanta for Monday Night Football, and we’ve got it at 8 on Finger Lakes News Radio.
