|The Wayne County Office of The Sheriff reports the investigation into a one car personal injury motor vehicle accident, which occurred on Route 88 in the Town of Sodus on October 13th 2018.
The operator of the vehicle was indentified as Ira Bristol, age 46, of Maple Ave, Sodus. Investigation determined Bristol’s vehicle left the west side of Route 88 for an unknown reason early Saturday morning. When leaving the roadway the vehicle turned sidways causing it to roll, become airborne and collide with two trees before coming to rest near the roadway. Bristol left the scene on foot and was found approximately 3 miles south of the incident.
It is alleged that Bristol was operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition. Bristol was subsequently charged with Driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to keep right and moving from lane unsafely.
Bristol sustained injuries to his left shoulder and head. He was transported by Newark Ambulance to Newark Wayne Community Hospital to be treated.
Bristol was arraigned in Williamson Town Court for DWI Refusal, where he was released on his own recognizance to appear in Sodus Town Court on later date to answer the charges.
Deputies were assisted on scene by Sodus Center Fire Department, Wayne County ALS and Newark Ambulance.
