In a game you heard on WAUB, Auburn edged Central Square, 28-23; in a game you heard on WFLR, Canisteo-Greenwood eliminated Dundee, 20-8; and in a game you heard at fingerlakesdailynews.com, Weedsport smoked Sherburne-Earlville, 42-14. Elsewhere, Utica Notre Dame topped Jordan-Elbridge, 36-27; Cato-Meridian took out Frankfort-Schuyler, 22-14; ER/Gananda wasted Waterloo, 62-32; Penn Yan pulverized Dansville, 48-0; Perry-Mt. Morris got by Lyons, 34-26; Alexander ran by Red Jacket, 25-12; Canandaigua edged Webster Schroeder, 24-21; Batavia bashed Newark, 51-14; Wayne upended Hornell, 27-8; Victor coasted by Eastridge, 44-14; and Letchworth/Warsaw manhandled Mynderse, 35-7. Meanwhile, Syracuse is back in action today, as the Orange host North Carolina at noon on Finger Lakes News Radio. Also, Hobart travels to RPI at noon.
In boys’ soccer sectionals, Pittsford Mendon eked by Canandaigua, 3-2; while on the girls’ side, Addison blanked Marcus Whitman, 5-0; Keshequa knocked out South Seneca, 5-2; Marion pounded Pembroke, 7-0; York nipped Naples, 3-2; Bath/Haverling downed Penn Yan, 1-0; Red Jacket upended Byron-Bergen, 2-1; Mynderse shutout Wellsville, 4-0; Newark stopped Midlakes, 2-1; Pal-Mac popped Batavia, 6-1; Warsaw whitewashed Gananda, 4-0; and Williamson walloped Perry-Mt. Morris, 7-0.
In college field hockey, RPI put down William Smith, 2-0.
In the AHL, the Amerks knocked off Toronto in a shootout, 5-4; while the Crunch throttled Binghamton, 4-0. Rochester takes on Belleville, while Syracuse hosts Utica, both puck drops are at 7.
In the NHL, the Buffalo Sabres continue their West Coast swing at LA at 3:30; while the Islanders head to San Jose at 10:30.
In the NBA, the Nets nipped the Knicks, 107-105. Brooklyn is at Indiana tonight, while the Knicks host Boston.
