A joint investigation by the Wayne County Department of Social Services and the Sheriff’s Department’s Welfare Fraud Investigation Unit led to the arrest of a 40 year old Arcadia woman on grand larceny and welfare fraud charges.
Patricia Cox is accused of receiving SNAP and Temporary Assistance Benefits, along with Medicaid through DSS. Between July 31st of last year and April 1st of this year, Cox lived in Eugene, Oregon and failed to notify the Wayne County Department of Social Services of her move. According to investigators, she fraudulently received more than 61-HUNDRED dollars worth of benefits from DSS she was not entitled to.
Following her arraignment,Cox was sent to Wayne County Jail in lieu of bail.
