The Cayuga County Health Department says now is the time to get a flu shot.
Deanna Ryan tells Finger Lakes News Radio that nationally, last year was one of the deadliest flu seasons in four decades, and the number of local cases was up.
She adds it’s important to get a flu shot early because it can take up to two weeks to build an immunity to the virus. High risk people should be vaccinated, and help is available if you have no insurance or your insurance doesn’t cover a shot.
The Health Department is holding flu shot clinics next Wednesday from 10 until 2 at the Town of Sterling offices and Friday from 9 until 1 at the health department office on Dill Street in Auburn.
