Auburn City Council votes Thursday on the lease plan that will make Falcon Park the home for Cayuga Community College sports teams. The college board of Trustees ratified the 20-year lease agreement last week.
City Manager Jeff Dygert said on last week’s Finger Lakes Morning News the proposal is fiscally sound for the college and the city.
He added the agreement will benefit CCC and the Auburn Doubledays.
Under terms of the agreement, the city will pay for the installation of a turf field and improvements to the locker rooms, lighting and other facilities.
Dygert said if the plan is approved by City Council, work to install the turf field could begin almost immediately.
The Spartans baseball team are scheduled to play their inaugural home opener on April 2.
