The Seneca Falls mother charged in connection with the beating death of her 3 year old son has pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree manslaughter.
Under the plea, Alison Bovio agreed to testify in all future court proceedings against her husband and co-defendant Donald Bovio. The couple is accused of beating Alison’s son Peter with a belt last May at their Seneca Falls home. The child hit his head on the ground and later died. Alison Bovio admitted she was present when Donald Bovio caused blunt force trauma to her son’s head. Evidence in the case also showed Alison Bovio was a victim of domestic violence. She faces 4 to 12 years in prison when sentenced.
Donald Bovio is expected to appear at a suppression hearing in Seneca County Court next Thursday.
