In a game you heard on Finger Lakes News Radio, Syracuse fell in OT to Pitt, 44-37; in a game you heard on WFLR, Penn Yan pounced on Wayne, 49-21; and in a game you heard on WGVA, Newark nipped Geneva, 13-12. Elsewhere in high school action, Thomas Edison downed Clyde-Savannah, 24-14; Cato-Meridian took down Beaver River, 27-6; and Jordan-Elbridge in a track meet over Hannibal, 62-48. Meanwhile, in local college action, Hobart pulled off a 29-28 come-from-behind win over Union. Don’t forget, we’ve got Giants football this afternoon, as they travel to Carolina for a 1 o’clock kickoff on Finger Lakes News Radio. Also, the Bills host Tennessee and the Jets take on Denver, both in 1 o’clock starts.
In boys’ soccer, Hilton topped Victor, 2-1; Canandaigua edged Gates-Chili, 1-0; and Wayne wasted HF-L, 6-0. On the girls’ side, Hilton eked by Victor, 1-0.
In mens’ college soccer, Hobart clipped Clarkson, 1-0; Penn St.-Abington coasted by Wells, 4-1; and Keuka all over St. Elizabeth, 9-0. In womens’ action, William Smith bested Clarkson, 1-0; Wells upended Penn St.-Abington, 2-0; and Keuka smoked St. Elizabeth, 10-0.
In Game 2 of the ALDS, the Yankees dropped Boston, 6-2, evening the series at 1 apiece. Game 3 is Monday night at Yankees Stadium.
