Thomas J. Smith, 61, died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday (October 3, 2018).
Friends may call Sunday (Oct. 7) from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A Funeral Service will be held Monday (Oct. 8) at 11 a.m. at the Middlesex United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Overackers Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Middlesex Hose Co., P.O. Box 145, Middlesex, NY 14507.
Tom was the son of the late John and Gladys Savage Smith. He was very active in his community fire service. Tom was a past-Fire Chief of the Middlesex Hose Co; member of the Yates County Fireman’s Association; Secretary-Treasurer of the Middlesex Fire District; Treasurer of the Middlesex Hose Co.; member of the Northern Central Fireman’s Association; and an Honorary Middlesex Sirenette. Tom and his late wife, Terri, owned and operated Smith’s Interstate Printing Services in Canandaigua for many years. Tom was a member of the Middlesex United Methodist Church; and had been a Middlesex Citizen of the Year. He loved playing golf, and doing home renovations. Tom was all about family, friends and his community.
Tom is survived by three sons, James (Deborah) Smith, Robert (Katherine) Smith and Daniel (Erin) Smith; daughter-in-law, Terry Smith (Reid) Ronalds; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five sisters Nancy Hamlin, Sandy Smith, Judy (John) Wheaton, June Smith, and Karen Tears; brother, Kenny (Pamela) Smith; two sisters-in-law Amy (Kevin Hunter) McLaughlin and Linda Brink; and several nieces and nephews.
Tom was predeceased by his wife, Terri; two sons Timothy Smith and Thomas Smith; daughter-in-law, Cindy Smith; grandson, Kevin Smith; and brother-in-law, Fenton Tears.
