A 20 year old Penn Yan man was arrested Wednesday after he called village police to tell them that he was driving on his license that had been allegedly suspended eight times and dared them to find him.
Officers located Jacob Thornton driving a car at the Yates County Office Complex. A traffic stop was initiated a short time later and Thornton was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation. The owner of the car, 20 year old Victoria Loree, of Canandaigua, was found to be in the passenger seat. Officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside. The Yates County K-9 unit was called to search the vehicle, and found a quantity of marijuana.
Loree was charged with unlawful possession and her car was impounded because of the aggravated unlicensed operation charge.
Thornton was ordered to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
