A day after no toxins were found in raw water entering Auburn’s water system, results from samples collected Tuesday revealed toxin levels of 1.2 micrograms per liter.
The result was the highest level of toxins detected in the untreated water so far this season. No toxins were detected in Tuesday’s samples from the Owasco plant after minute levels were found in Monday’s tests.
Auburn City Manager Jeff Dygert said on Wednesday’s Finger Lakes Morning News it’s like playing whack-a-mole.
He added the HABs and the toxins they produce are a challenge to all those working to keep the toxins out of both water systems.
The carbon filtration systems in both plants have kept toxins out of the treated water coming from your taps.
