The United Way of Schuyler County held the Agency Luncheon at the Montour Falls Moose Lodge. The 2018 Campaign Goal is $123,000 for 22 agencies that service Schuyler County. At the luncheon, outgoing 2017 Campaign Chairs Ron and Carmella Hoffman were honored for their great service to the organization. Agency members in attendance were introduced to the new 2018 Campaign Chairs, Dominick and Stacy Smith.
Like the Hoffman Family, Dominick and Stacey Smith are lifelong residents of Schuyler County. They are proud parents of daughters, Kayla, freshman nursing student at Corning Community College and Ashley, senior at Watkins Glen High School. The Smith family understands the importance of helping their Schuyler County neighbors and has devoted much of their lives to the Watkins Glen Fire Department. Everyone has helped in some sort of capacity; Dominick has been a member for over 25 years, holding various titles including Chief, Deputy Chief, and Safety Officer, Stacey helps with fundraisers and events, Kayla and Ashley are also members. Dominick works from home for First Out Rescue selling fire related equipment and he serves as a councilman on the Town of Dix board. Stacey works for Schuyler County Highway Department where she enjoys helping the residents of the community and has volunteered with the Schuyler County Humane Society.
United Way of Schuyler County past Secretary, Glenda Gephart, was awarded the Marie Bailey Volunteer of the Year Award. Executive Director Peggy Scott said, “Glenda was always there – one step ahead of all of us to help meet our goals for many, many years.”
A reminder that the annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser is Columbus Day, October 8th, 2018, at the Montour Falls Moose Lodge, 2096 State Route 14, Montour Falls, NY. Adults are $8.00 and less for seniors and children under 12. Dinners “to go” are also available.
