In girls’ high school soccer, Newark got by Gananda, 2-0; Webster Thomas blanked Canandaigua, 4-0; Fairport and Victor played to a 2-2 draw; and Onondaga easily over Jordan-Elbridge, 4-0.
In boys’ action, Mynderse upended Geneva, 2-0; HAC smacked South Seneca/Romulus, 5-0; Sodus slipped by North Rose-Wolcott, 2-1; ER all over Red Creek, 5-0; Williamson and Marion tied at 1; and Jordan-Elbridge over Onondaga, 3-2.
In mens’ college soccer, Virginia Tech downed Syracuse in 2OT, 1-0.
In MLB, the Yankees outslugged Boston, 11-6; while the Mets fell to Miami, 8-1. Both series continue at 7:10 tonight.
