An investigation by local law enforcement determined an alleged threat involving a Weedsport student against the Jr.-Sr. High School on Wednesday to be unfounded. District officials said the student will not be in school until district leaders complete their own investigation.
“We are grateful for the quick response of the New York State Police, and we are fortunate that there was no threat,” said Shaun A. O’Connor, Superintendent of Schools. “All involved in the investigation are to be commended.”
In what might be a coincidence, the Weedsport school district is set to host former Columbine High School Principal Frank DeAngelis at a community forum tonight on school based tragedies. DeAngelis was the principal in April of 1999 when two students opened fire, killing 12 of their fellow students and a teacher before killing themselves.
