Manchester Town Justice Erica Martin has officially stepped down from that position after pleading guilty in May to a charge of grand larceny.
The Commission on Judicial Conduct says Martin has agreed to never serve as a judge again. Martin admitted to stealing more than 8-THOUSAND dollars while serving in that position. She was arrested in March of last year for allegedly stealing court fines and surcharges, starting in January of 2016 when she took over the position. An investigation began after discrepancies were found during a routine audit of town funds. According to court documents, the thefts continued until December of 2017.
Judge Roger Gosper, of Phelps, had been appointed by the Manchester Town Board to fill their vacant justice position through the end of the year.
