The Geneva City School District has decided to postpone the grand opening of the new Carter Road physical education and athletics facility.
Construction was scheduled for completion by mid November, but district officials had hoped for an early completion of the facility that would allow for a grand opening on homecoming, Oct. 6. Unexpected delays prevented meeting the earlier deadline.
“Although visitors can already see what the facility will look like, and we do plan to hold the homecoming game there, we don’t want to host a grand opening until all the details are in place,” explained Superintendent Trina Newton. The grand opening is now being planned for springtime.
The homecoming parade starts at 6 p.m., with the game slated for 7 p.m.
