The Cayuga County Arts Council will be holding an open house at Auburn’s historic Schines Theatre during Tomatofest on Saturday. It’s a celebration of the 80th anniversary of the opening of the art-deco theater, and the last chance for a look inside before the restoration gets underway.
Council President Ed Onori said on Thursday’s Finger Lakes Morning News the building has good bones.
He adds the Council will still have a role after turning ownership of the theater over to Syracuse-based Bowers Development
More than 3,000 people visited during the open houses during Majorpalooza and Founders’ Day.
Saturday’s open house is from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. The first 250 families through will get a reusable bag, the next 500 can get a pen commemorating the 80th birthday.
