Work will soon begin on State Route 54A in the Towns of Urbana and Pulteney. According to the State Dept. of Transportation, the work will include emergency wall and culvert repairs at one site in Pulteney and several culvert repair and drainage enhancement sites in Urbana.
Work on the primary site, located approximately 4.5 miles north of Hammondsport, is expected to begin Monday, with the road will being closed at this location. The full road closure is expected to be between eight to ten weeks in duration. Traffic during the road closure will be directed to a detour using Steuben CR 76 and Boyd Hill Road. It is anticipated that all work will be completed by the end of November.
Work at the second site, located approximately 0.8 miles north of Hammondsport, has started and is expected to last about 4 weeks. One lane will remain open during that portion of the work.
