Long-time Cayuga County Tourism Director Meg Vanek announced today she is retiring.
Vanek has spent 40 years in the hospitality industry, and has led the Cayuga County Convention and Visitors Bureau for more than two decades.
She credited with establishing a tourism office in downtown Auburn as part of the rebirth of downtown and developing promotional programs that add to the economic vitality and quality of life of Cayuga County.
Now that she is retiring, she tells Finger Lakes News Radio she might have time to be a tourist.
Vanek says she will stay on until the end of the year as the Board of Directors begins the process to hire her successor.
