A pair of New Jersey kayakers can thank an alert Town of Jerusalem resident for rescuing them from Keuka Lake’s waters Saturday.
Yates County Deputies say 40-year-old Nittin Jain of Jersey City, New Jersey, along with a 9-year-old child, were sent into the water when their kayak overturned late Saturday morning, due to the wind and waves.
Family members then called 911 and alerted neighbors of the pair in the water, when one of the unidentified neighbors swam out and got the two to shore safely.
Both kayakers were wearing their flotation devices.
The Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone to use life vests every time out on the water, and be aware of weather and water conditions.
