In local college football, Brockport bashed Hobart in the Statesmen’s season opener, 56-7.
In mens’ college soccer, Hobart and St. Marys of Maryland played to a scoreless draw; Skidmore clipped Keuka, 1-0; and FLCC clobbered Clinton, 8-1.
On the womens’ side, William Smith bested Stevenson, 3-0; Keuka in a thriller over William Patterson in OT, 5-4; and FLCC whitewashed Clinton, 5-0.
In the NY-Penn league, the Auburn Doubledays remain in the wildcard spot, and are now just half a game back in the Pinckney Division with 2 to play, after a 10-5 win over Batavia.
In the IL, the Rochester Red Wings fell to Lehigh Valley, 2-1; and Syracuse took down Buffalo, 6-1. Both series resume tonight, at 6 and 7, respectively.
In MLB, the Yankees trumped the Tigers; and the Mets eked by the Giants, also by 2-1. Both series continue this afternoon.
