Madelene M. Groescup, 89, of Castle Hayne, N.C. passed away Friday (August 24) at Lower Cape Fear Hospice after a short illness.
Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Oaks Corners, New York at the convenience of the family. The funeral will be at Wrightsboro United Methodist Church, 3300 N Kerr Ave, Wilmington NC, at 11 a.m. on Saturday (September 1, 2018). There will be a time after the service to visit with the family. Refreshments will also be served.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401 in memory of Madelene Groescup.
Mrs. Groescup (Madelene) was born January 3, 1929 in the town of Phelps, NY, the daughter of Clifford and Bertha Taylor. She lived in Phelps until moving to Wilmington, NC in May 1995. She was a 30 year member of the United Church of Phelps, a former member of the Eaton Bird Club and a 25 year member of the Girl Scouts of America.
She is survived by their two daughters Brenda S. Bouwens and Elaine M. (James) Tyler all of Castle Hayne, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Charles E. Groescup.
