The Seneca County Board of Supervisors will begin the search for a new county manager following Friday’s sudden resignation of John Sheppard effective September 4th.
Board of Supervisors Chairman Bob Shipley released a statement on Saturday saying a special board meeting will be scheduled to discuss the process for a replacement.
Finger Lakes 1 reports there was no word on the reason for Sheppard’s departure.
Prior to taking the position with Seneca County, the retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel was a town of Seneca supervisor and served as chairman of the Ontario County Board of Supervisors.
Before entering into local politics, Sheppard was vice-president of Sheppard Grain in Phelps.
