The unions representing Auburn police and firefighters on Monday endorsed Democrat John Mannion in the 50th State Senate District race.
Speaking at the Phoenix Building in downtown Auburn, Mannion thanked the union members for their support.
The West Genesee School District teacher is making his first foray into the political arena, and has found it a daunting endeavor.
Firefighters union President Sean Corcoran says Mannion being new to politics is one reason for the support of the city’s first responders.
Mannion is facing Onondaga County Comptroller Bob Antonacci in November’s runoff to succeed long-time State Senator John DeFrancisco.
