Santa needed several sleighs to fetch the sacks of gifts Waterloo Rotarians collected during their annual Christmas in July toy collection for the Cayuga-Seneca Community Action Agency, which coordinates the Community Christmas program.
This year, the Rotarians collected new toys at the Waterloo Farm Market, which Rotary sponsors. Shoppers pitched in to donate more than 100 toys for less fortunate kids in our community.
“We are so grateful for the generous support of our shoppers,” said activity chair Gina Suffredini. The toys were added to the Rotarians’ donations, bringing the total to more than 100 toys.
This week, Suffredini, Santa Chris Shaffer, Rotary President Jane Shaffer and club members presented CSCAA representative Janice Griffin with their donation. “I have been with CSCAA for nearly 10 years,” Griffin said. “I am very familiar with Rotary and the great things you have done for us over the years – distributing school supplies, conducting the coat give away, collecting food at Thanksgiving, and now this overwhelming donation. We are very, very, very appreciative!”
Rotarians are now turning their attention to the Fill the Bus campaign, collecting school supplies at the Saturday Farmers Market and at meetings.
Waterloo Rotary meets every Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Quality Inn. New members are always welcome.
