It appears there won’t be a Republican runoff in the 50th Senate District.
State election commissioners voted on Wednesday to remove Rick Guy from the GOP primary ballot following a hearing last week that determined the Syracuse attorney lacked the signatures needed to qualify for the state Senate primary. Guy was 221 signatures short of the number needed to get on the ballot to oppose Onondaga County Comptroller Bob Antonacci.
A state election official says Guy has three days to appeal the decision.
The senate seat is up for grabs in November with the retirement of Senator John DeFrancisco. West Genesee High School teacher John Mannion is running for the Democrats.
