For the second consecutive year the Annual Lane’s Yamaha NASCAR Night at the Outlaw Speedway in Dundee has fallen to rain.
With a steady rain falling all throughout the race day morning and a forecast of even more rain for the rest of the afternoon and evening hours, track owner, Tyler Siri had no other choice but to cancel the program.
“With the A-Verdi Storage Containers Patriot 360 Sprints coming into town along with all the other race teams and fans coming from long distances away including the two NASCAR drivers that were scheduled to come and sign autographs we really had to look at the forecast carefully and pull the plug early on this one to save a lot of folks unnecessary travel. That according to Tyler Siri. The last thing we need is getting people here knowing that there is little chance of getting the event into the books just to send them back home.”
Ryan Blaney and Aric Almirola were both scheduled to be at the track for the event to sign autographs and do interviews, but with the cancellation that will now be put off till next season when hopefully they can make a return to Outlaw.
With the rainout on Friday, August 3, 2018 the track will lay dormant till August 17 when the next event is scheduled featuring a Super 7 Show, Boy Scout Night, a bicycle give-a-way as well as 1 on 1 Spectator Races. The track had previously left August 10 open as a night off heading into a hectic stretch run thru September.
“When you look at the big picture we have been pretty fortunate here at Outlaw Speedway in 2018. Our last cancellation was on June 1 and we have been able to get thru a tremendous amount of big events without any rain issues. The Brett Deyo Short Track Super Series Event, the Super Dirtcar Series, the Tony Stewart All Star Circuit of Champions 410 Sprint Car Show as well as last weekend’s Summer Nationals 2 night event along with the Annual Fireworks Extravaganza. All run off without any weather related problems during a summer that has been just riddled with lousy weather. There are a lot of tracks out there that have been just hammered with rainouts so when you put it all in perspective we have been lucky. You hate to lose a big show like NASCAR Night simply because there is no way of making it up, but we will move forward with our upcoming aggressive schedule of events from not until we close the place down for the year in October.”
