A bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck by a car Wednesday afternoon in the area of the Byrne Dairy store on South Main Street in Canandaigua.
26-year-old Christopher Catt, of Victor, was traveling south in the driving lane when he overtook a car that had stopped in the passing lane at the marked crosswalk. Catt’s car entered the crosswalk, striking the female bicyclist, who struck the windshield and was thrown forward into the road. The unidentified woman suffered serious injuries and cuts to her arms and head and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital. Catt was ticketed for failure to keep right, failing to stop at a crosswalk and for using his cell phone while driving.
Additional charges are pending.
