Detective Lieutenant Brian Schenck has picked up the endorsement of the Auburn Police Department’s Union in his bid to become Cayuga County’s next sheriff.
He has already secured the backing from the sheriff’s department’s union. Auburn Police Local 195 cites Schenck’s extensive law enforcement career as one of the reasons for their endorsement.
Schenck announced his plans to run in early April after Sheriff David Gould confirmed he would retire at the end of his third term as sheriff at the end of the year. Schenck is the only candidate running for sheriff at this time.
