Terrance “Terry” K. Mays died Saturday (July 21) at the Rochester General Hospital in Clifton Springs, where he passed peacefully surrounded by his family.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no prior calling hours. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Terry was born on Sept. 5 1938 in the town of Prattsburg, NY, and lived most of his life in Clifton Springs, N.Y. He honorably served 10 years inn the US Navy aboard the destroyer USS Bainbridge (CGN-25) where he was able to travel all over the world. Terry worked for many years at Fold-Pak Corp. in Newark, N.Y. where he started as an electrician, working his way to Maintenance Supervisor. He retired in 2003 from the Romulus Central District as their Facilities and Grounds Superintendent.
He was also proud to be a Mason. Terry enjoyed spending time at home with family and friends. He was also an accomplished woodworker, and was happiest whenever he had the opportunity to spend time in his shop, or working on projects, big or small, around his home.
Terry is survived by his wife of 59 yrs., Florence E. Mays; two sons Christopher E. and Terrance B. Mays; brother, Robert W. (Betty) Mays; sister, Lynda (Gary) Swartele; grandchildren Erica E. and Benjamin M.; great-grandson, Grayson K. Horn; several nieces and nephew; as well as his Jack Russell terrier, “Aggie”, who he was extremely fond of.
