Will Cayuga County be getting a new website? The proposal to hire a company to design a new website has been batted back and forth by a pair of legislative committees over the past couple of months, but it appears the idea is back on track.
The County Ways and Means Committee approved the plan for a new website on Tuesday night after rejecting the proposal in May. The Government Operations Committee initially approved the new website in May and rejected it last Tuesday, after which Legislature Chair Pat Mahunik did not sugar coat his feelings.
Aurelius legislator Paul Pinckney voted against the website on Tuesday, even though he’s in favor of a new one. Pinckney and Summerhill legislator Charley Ripley, who is not on the committee told the Citizen the county is slow walking the permitting for the installation of fiber optic cable that would bring high speed internet to the rural southern parts of the county.
The full legislature will vote on the proposal when it meets next Tuesday.
