A 40-year-old Himrod woman is in Yates County Jail after being arrested on arson charges by Penn Yan Village Police.
Denise Ault’s arrest stems from the investigation into a porch fire that occurred Sunday night at an apartment house on Clinton Street. Ault was initially arrested Friday following an alleged incident at the same building. She is accused of breaking into an apartment and assaulting two individuals, including a woman that was sleeping and holding a 10-month child in her arms. Ault was charged with burglary, assault, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal trespass, and harassment. As she was arrested Friday, she was allegedly overheard making threats to burn down the house. Two orders of protection were issued.
Ault is now accused of setting the porch fire Sunday night in response to Friday’s domestic incident. She was sent back to Yates County Jail on charges of arson and criminal contempt, both felonies, and reckless endangerment.
