He then attended SUNY Cortland and fulfilled a lifelong ambition of becoming a teacher, eventually settling in Penn Yan where he taught social studies and economics for 27 years before retiring in 2001. Gregory was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, skilled fly fisherman, and avid hunter. He was also a dedicated model railroader and member of the American Legion where he coordinated the annual local oratorical contest. He also supervised his church’s Sunday school program and routinely delivered the children’s message during service. Gregory will be remembered by all who knew him as a kind, loving, dependable and a quick witted man who brought joy to all of the lives he touched.
