Friends of the victims of the Waterloo shooting are taking to social media to mourn and raise money following Tuesday night’s ambush on Virginia Street.
According to posts on Facebook, the woman shot and killed was Lori McConnell, and the woman wounded and since released from the hospital is Karen Zdunko.
One page describes Lori as “a daughter, mother, and grandmother.” The other page says Karen “lost both her live-in boyfriend and close friend who were both fatally wounded in the shooting.”
A post on Karen’s Facebook from another woman identifies the man killed in the shooting as just “Chuck.” The Facebook Post reads in part: “Last night our world was forever changed & we are beyond heartbroken. I am angry that my son had to read that his father & another were shot & killed & Karen in the hospital, before we were even notified by authorities of there even being a shooting. We spent a lot of time at the trooper barracks making statements & they couldn’t/wouldn’t even tell us anything. We actually woke up Chuck’s parents who had no idea of anything.”
Lori’s family members also posted angry comments over the fact that social media announced the murders before family members were notified.
State Police and the Seneca County District Attorney’s Office held a news conference this morning, but refused to identify the victims.
