The 23-month old boy who fell into a backyard swimming pool in Auburn earlier this month passed away on Thursday morning.
Jaxon Finizio would have turned two on July 27. Auburn Fire Deputy Chief Mark Fritz was the first firefighter to arrive at the Seymour Street home on the morning of July 3.
Jaxon was revived and was airlifted to Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse in critical condition.
Dozens of people held a candlelight vigil for Jaxon at Hoopes Park last Friday evening, offering prayers, songs and support for Jaxon and his family.
His cousin, Eric Sapps, posted the tragic news on Facebook on Thursday. He said, “I love you so much. I know you put up the strongest fight and I know that everyone did all they could for you. I’m gonna miss that contagious smile … Rest in paradise Jax. I will never ever ever forget you.”
