Chapel House on Tuesday was forced to close its Franklin Street emergency shelter due to facilities issues that are beyond immediate repair.
Board Chair James Breslin tells Finger Lakes News Radio shelter staff were able to find accomodations for their guests.
Sewer repairs will cost more than $33,000, just the latest problem to hit the shelter.
Breslin says Chapel House has contacted the City of Auburn about obtaining Community Development Block Grant funding, and has also been in contact with foundations and churches. There’s also a crowd funding effort underway on Facebook.
