State officials have given their blessing to the sale of the historic Schines Theater in downtown Auburn.
The Citizen reports the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation approved the Cayuga County Arts Council plan to sell the 1938 art deco theater to Bowers Development. In a letter last month to the council, office Commissioner Rose Harvey said the follows reviews of the sale by her office and the state attorney general and state comptroller.
Bowers Development will buy the theater from the Arts Council for $15,000. The renovation of the theater is underway. It’s expected to cost $6 Million and is should be completed by October 2019.
