Lauren VasQuez, 22, passed away Sunday (June 24, 2018) at her home.
Friends and family are invited to call Thursday (June 28) from 4 to 8 p.m. at Mull Funeral Home, 113 Virginia Street, Waterloo. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday (June 29) at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Waterloo. Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
Lauren’s family requests memorial contributions be directed to a charity of one’s choice or emulate Lauren’s life by treating each person you encounter with dignity, kindness, respect, and patience, for we never know what battles they may be facing.
Lauren was born in Geneva on May 31, 1996 the daughter of Anthony and Sandra A. (Powers) VasQuez. She was a 2014 Graduate of Geneva High School and attended Monroe County Community College.
Besides her parents, Lauren is survived by her brother, Benjamin; her maternal grandmother, Helen Dilts; her aunt, Judy Levock; uncles Benjamin (Susan) and Richard VasQuez; her cat, Nigel “Mix”; several great aunts, great uncles and cousins.
Lauren was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Cecile E. (Urban) Benjamin Vasquez; maternal grandfather, Thomas R. Powers.
We cannot control what happens to us in life and what we have to deal with on a daily basis; what we can control is how we treat others. When you see someone struggling, reach out your hand to them, this will be Lauren working through you. In life we need to be there for each other.
