A Canandaigua police officer suffered a serious shoulder injury after he was assaulted by a man that he helped prevent from jumping off the West Avenue Bridge Friday afternoon.
Shortly after they arrived, one of the officers got into a scuffle with the man attempting to jump. He and the other officers were able to subdue 32 year old Clarence Grover and prevent him from jumping.
Grover, who is from Canandaigua, was charged with assault and sent to Ontario County Jail.
The injured officer was not identified and was taken to Thompson Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
