A 37-year-old Bath man has admitted in court that he recklessly caused the death of another Bath man in August of 2017.
Mathew Taft, Senior, pleaded guilty in Steuben County Court to a felony charge of 2nd-degree manslaughter. Taft was indicted on the manslaughter charge after toxicology reports revealed that Joshua Rowe died as a result of overdosing on fentanyl-laced heroin at Taft’s Buell Street apartment. The evidence established Taft sold the laced heroin to Rowe, and then failed to take any steps to save him as he suffered an overdose and died.
Taft faces up to 5-to-15 years in prison when sentenced July 24th.
