An incident earlier this month at the Cayuga Correctional Facility resulted in a Binghamton woman being arrested and a correction officer being injured.
After the woman arrived at the Moravia facility, she was instructed to change out of her outfit, which was deemed inappropriate. When she returned in different clothing, she started to talk on her cell phone, which is prohibited inside the facility. The woman grabbed a computer monitor on a desk and threw it at a female officer after she was told to put her cell phone in her car or a locker at the prison. The monitor hit the officer on the side of the face and wrist. The woman then kicked at two officers before she was restrained.
She was charged with assault and criminal mischief.
