The Finger Lakes Health Foundation presented a member of the Penn Yan Academy Class of 2018, Lin Dickinson, with the Kitty Wigsten Memorial Scholarship.
The one-year scholarship is awarded to a graduating Penn Yan senior who plans to pursue career studies in healthcare services. The scholarship is sponsored by the Finger Lakes Health Foundation and is funded through gifts given in memory of Katherine “Kitty” Wigsten who served Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital for more than 30 years as a nurse, manager and administrative team member.
The award recipient, Lin Dickinson, plans to pursue a career in medicine. She will attend the SUNY at Geneseo.
During her high school career, Dickinson was recognized for Academic Excellence for having an overall average of more than 90 for the last three years. She also achieved academic excellence in French and was a member of the National Honor Society. She participated in the Biomedical Science Club and the Science Throwdown for three years, and was a Science Olympiad for two years. She also was a member of the Jazz Band and served as co-editor and editor of the Yearbook Club.
In the community, she was a member of the Rotary Interact, serving as president during her senior year; was a member of the Church Youth Group and the Church Bell Choir. She is employed at Eastview Veterinary Clinic.
