You many not know it, but it’s football season in Auburn.
The Auburn Pride semi-pro team plays their second home game at Holland Stadium on Saturday night. Board members Rob Bennett and Patrick Yurco appeared on Wednesday’s Finger Lakes Morning News.
Yurco said coaches Dan O’Hara and Scott Wilson came up with the idea for the team after the team they were coaching folded.
Bennett said the team’s community involvement sold him on joining the program.
The team includes a number of local players led by quarterback Ray Miles.
Saturday night at 7:00pm the Pride will battle the Syracuse Strong at Holland Stadium for the inaugural Route 5 Ruckus Trophy.
Anyone with military I.D. gets in for free while general admission tickets are $5. Proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
