The former owner of Lloyd’s Limited in Penn Yan pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Tuesday in Yates County Court on charges he was indicted on one week ago.
Robert Champlin is charged with criminal sex act, a violent Class B felony, attempted rape, a violent Class C felony, four counts of felony sexual abuse, four counts of forcible touching and one count of unlawfully dealing with a child.
Last month, Champlin rejected a plea deal to accept two felony counts of sex abuse with a guaranteed 3 year prison sentence. If he is found guilty of the charges he is now indicted on, Champlin faces up to 25 years in prison and would have to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
The 61 year old is accused of sexually assaulting two females late Christmas Eve and early Christmas morning at the Main Street establishment he owned for nearly two decades.
