Joy Davis – On June 6 Joy Davis left this life as she lived it, peacefully, and surrounded by the family she held so dear.
Born Harriet Joy Strott on December 5, 1927, she was the youngest child of Virginia Hill Strott and George G. Strott.
Joy was married to David P. Davis who predeceased her in 2010. She studied at Syracuse University while David was a student, then moved to Kashong where they raised their children. She was active in her community, played bridge and knew every bird that landed at her feeder. She most enjoyed her jobs at both the Geneva Times and Hobart and William Smith Colleges Library.
She is survived by her five children, Andrea Van Ness of Saranac Lake, David Paul Davis Jr. of Fulton, N.Y., Carol Davis, of Fort Collins, Colo., Barbara Davis of Ripton, Vt., Margaret Beardsley of Troy, N.Y. and is the grandmother of five and great-grandmother of three.
There will be no formal ceremony to mark her passing. For those of you who knew her and loved her, think of her on a warm summer afternoon, sitting on the porch with Dave, and raise a glass of wine in her memory.
